Since 1925, the Hastings Symphony Orchestra (HSO) has culturally enriched south central Nebraska by providing quality, live music, and music education for people of all ages and backgrounds. In the process, as one of the longest-running non-professional orchestras in the country, the HSO has provided playing opportunities to countless musicians across 98 seasons.

In addition to providing playing opportunities to student musicians, the HSO hosts a free education concert for area public schools every season. The HSO conductor and musicians introduce children to classical music, showcasing the instruments and performers behind it, to ignite a passion for music and foster lifelong music enthusiasts.
