South Central NE Children's Chorale

About the Organization

The South Central Nebraska Children's Chorale, under the umbrella of the Hastings Community Music Academy, is an auditioned group of singers, grades 4 through 8, unchanged voices, from schools throughout South Central Nebraska. The Chorale was established to provide musically interested children in South Central Nebraska a chance to further their musical accomplishments and share quality music with other children. The Chorale rehearses and performs a variety of music from all historical periods and styles. A highlight of the 1999-2000 and 2011-12 seasons was selected by a taped audition to perform at the Nebraska Music Educators Association's annual conference/clinic in Lincoln in November. In July 2005 and again in 2016, the Chorale was invited to perform for the Nebraska Choral Directors Convention. This last summer season in 2024 members went on an Omaha Tour and performed at the Henry Doorly Zoo, Gretna Holy Shrine, and sang at the 2024 Special Olympics. SCNCC was also recorded for a CD under a local artist bringing awareness to Childhood Cancer. Chris Niemeyer included the voices of SCNCC members for her song "Don't Stop Fighting" which was released on September 27th, 2024.
