Hastings Fire & Rescue

About the Organization

Hastings Fire & Rescue (HFR) is a career-based organization that operates as the sole provider of fire protection and basic and advanced life support for the City of Hastings. The department operates out of two fire stations, consisting of 37 total staff members. All of HFR's sworn in fire-fighters are certified emergency medical technicians and 15 of those being paramedics. HFR is the sole provider of advanced life support (ALS) for all of Adams County and several other towns within our mutual aid district. HFR is also a member of the Hastings Area Mutual Aid Association, which includes 26 departments in seven counties, encompassing approximately 1,500 square miles. HFR is the only department that provides heavy and technical rescue equipment within the mutual aid area. As an all-hazards fire department, we respond to all hazards whether it is fire suppression, EMS, vehicle extrication, hazardous materials, confined space, trench rescue, rope rescue and ice/water rescue. All full-time firefighters have had specialized training in each type of rescue operation.
